JUDGE BEARD'S FUNERAL IS HELD NEAR DANBURG
Washington, Ga., September 14.—(Special.)—The funeral of Judge E. D. BEARD, whose death occurred Friday at his home, eight miles northeast of Washington, took place this afternoon at the family burying ground near Danburg. Danburg lodge of Masons conducted the services. Judge BEARD was 73 years old and had just completed the duties of his office of tax receiver of Wilkes county when he was taken ill two weeks ago, and succumbed to a complication of diseases from which he had been a sufferer for nearly a year. His term of office expires in January, and he had refused to stand for re-election at the late primary on account of the condition of his health.
Mr. BEARD came to Wilkes county in early manhood from Kentucky, from which state he enlisted in Wheeler's cavalry, First Kentucky regiment. Here he married Miss FANNIE MAHONEY, who, with eight children, survive him. His six sons, all of whom are citizens of Wilkes county, acted as pallbearers.
