Wilkes County Deed Book PPP, 1842-1846, page 190
This Indenture made the fifth day of February in the Year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred & forty two, Between Beriah B Reeves of the County & state aforesaid of the one part and Luke Turner of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Beriah B Reeves for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred and Eighteen Dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath granted bargained and sold and doth by these presents set over and convey unto the the said Luke Turner his heirs & assigns all that tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County and state aforesaid on the waters of dry fork Creek whereon the said Reeves now lives. Containing two hundred & nineteen acres more or less beginning at a red oak corner where Moses Arnold & this tract intersects the line of a tract of Land belonging to R(?) Lunceford and formerly sold by J A Reeves to Robert T Barrett thence along said Luncefords line to a post oak corner, thence along said Luncefords Line to a white oak corner , on Olivers Branch and a straight line (not yet marked) to a Black gum corner on William Martins Line and thence along said Martins and Isaiah(?) Tucks Line to Moses Arnold (NR) hence and thence along the line of the said Moses Arnold to the beginning. it being the tract of Land originally owned by B B Reeves as well as the tract of seven acres conveyed to him by Alarris C Jackson in a Deed dated the Thirteenth of December Eighteen hundred and thirty nine, To have and to hold the said Bargained premises is together with all the rights members and appurtenances, thereto belonging to him the said Luke Turner his heirs and assigns, the said Beriah B Reeves does and will defend the right & title thereof from the claim of himself his heirs and all other persons forever in fee Simple-- In testimony whereof the said Beriah B Reeves hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & Year above written. -- .

Note: Beriah B. Reeves was Captain of Militia District 168 for the years 1821-1822 and 1825-1828. His land adjoined the land once owned by William McLaughlin, and his home was the place of the marriage of William's son Josiah T. McLaughlin to Mary Ann Jordan on October 1, 1837. Luke Turner had previously purchased the land of William McLaughlin on December 18, 1832.
