Obituary of Ida Mazelle Powell Wilson
SYLVA, N.C. - Ida Mayzelle P. Wilson, 97, of Mt. Trace Nursing Home, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at Mt. Trace Nursing Home, Sylva, N.C.
Born in Georgia, she retired from Appleton Mill [in Anderson], where she was a weaver. She was also a member of Oakwood Baptist Church [in Anderson]. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are sons, Douglas Wilson of Perry, Ga., W. Connie Wilson of Anderson, S.C. and Gary Wilson of Jonesboro, Ga.; daughter, Terri W. Aldridge of Whittier, NC; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was the widow of Curry Lee Wilson and the daughter of the late William T. Powell and Alice Andrews Powell. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sarah W. Osborne and Sybil Lee W. Griffith; five brothers, William F., Walter, William M., Robert, and Albert Powell; and two sisters, Nealie P. Wilson and Susie Belle Powell.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel, Anderson, by the Rev. John M. Daniel; burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday.
