Obituary of Bonnie Lucille Powell Cantrell Smith
Bonnie Lucille Smith, 89, of Pensacola, died on November 20, 2011 in a local medical facility.
Born on August 29, 1922, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of Walter Eugene Powell and Mellie Moena Lacy, and oldest of thirteen children. Mrs. Smith was a member of the old Words of Life Church in Pensacola, pastored by J. E. McGraw.
After her retirement from the Fiberglas Corp. in Anderson, she enjoyed traveling to visit the sights and family -- taking plenty of pictures along the way.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda Cantrell Maness, of High Point, NC; son, Wayne Cantrell (Brenda), of Pensacola; sister, Barbara Giddeon (Michael Geri), of Pensacola; and brothers, Jack Powell, of Simpsonville, SC, Henry L. Powell (Leona), C. K. Powell, both of Anderson, SC, Sherman Powell (Brenda), of Pensacola, and Tommy Powell (Barbara), of Maiden, NC; 10 grandchildren; and more than 20 great- and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Lester E. Cantrell and Floyd Smith; a son, Michael L. Cantrell; sisters, Lois Porter, of Anderson, Ruby Jennings, of Pensacola, and Annabell Powell Lunsford, of Middleburg, FL; and brothers, William, Calvin, and Alvin Powell, of Anderson; and a grandson Toney M. Cantrell, of Anderson.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 7433 Pine Forest Rd.in Pensacola.
Funeral and burial services will be held Wednesday, November 23, at 2 p.m., at the Pensacola Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
