Obituary of Walter Eugene Powell
Walter Eugene Powell, 84, of 230 Foster St., husband to Mellie Lacy Powell, died Tuesday at Anderson Memorial Hospital.
Born in Danburg, Ga., he was a son of the late William and Alice Andrews Powell. He was a retired employee of J. P. Stevens, Appleton Plant with 42 years service and of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are widow; sons, Jack, Sherman, and Tommy Powell, all of Pensacola, Fla., Henry Powell of Texas and Ken Powell of LaPlace, La.; daughters, Mrs. Lucille Smith and Ms. Lois Powell, of Anderson, Mrs. Ruby Jennings and Mrs. Barbara Giddeon, both of Pensacola and Ms. Ann Powell of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Albert Powell of Wilmington, N.C.; sisters, Mrs. Nealie Wilson, Mayzell Wilson, and Miss Belle Powell, of Anderson; 34 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Services: 3 p. m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home Chapel, Anderson, with burial in Old Silver Brook Cemetery.
Visitation: 7 to 9 p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family is at the residence.
