Obituary of Robert Lee Powell
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Robert Lee Powell, 82, formerly of Anderson, died Saturday at Riverside Hospital, Newport News.
Born in Danburg, Ga., he was a son of the late William T. and Alice Andrews Powell. He was a retired textile worker, a member of Jehovah’s Witness, and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are sons, Horace Powell of Soperton, Ga., Robert Powell of Newport News; daughters, Mrs. Edward Harold (Ruth) Price of Anderson, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Ellis of Newport News, Mrs. Lee (Imogene) Glenn of Fair Play, S.C., Mrs. Troy (Cathy) Cofield and Mrs. Barbara Woods of Macon, Ga.; stepsons Gary Dickens of Charleston, S.C., Billy Dickens of Macon, Ga.; stepdaughter, Mrs. Betty Johnson of Macon, Ga.; brothers, Albert Powell of Wilmington, N.C., Walter Powell of Anderson; sisters, Mrs. Neelie Wilson, Mrs. Mazelle Wilson and Miss Belle Powell of Anderson; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
Plans are incomplete and will be announced by Woodlawn Funeral Home, Anderson.
The body will be at the funeral home, Anderson, after 5 pm. Sunday. The family is at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Harold Price, Route 4, Privdence Church Road, Anderson.
