Obituary of Kenneth Ray Giddeon
Kenneth Ray Giddeon, 68, of Pensacola, went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, after a long illness. He was born on December 9, 1938 in Youngstown, FL, to his parents Ada Viola Watson and Wm. Patrick Giddeon.
Ken attended Pensacola High School and graduated from Massey Technical Institute, Jacksonville, then spent over 45 years in the electrical trade, retiring from Fluor Corporation, in 2006, as a Project Manager. He resided in Pensacola for most of his life, and attended the House of Bread Church in Ensley.
Born into meager means, Ken was raised in Aragon Courts in downtown Pensacola. He and his brothers, and friends, were avid fishermen usually catching the meat for supper from Muscogee Wharf in the bay. With a wonderful, loving mother as his mentor, Ken's life was focused on caring and providing for his family. These were goals he succeeded at tremendously, even though he had to travel extensively and for long periods of time -- a sacrifice about which he never complained. He was always mindful of the needs of family and friends, offering help when he could. Ken was a giant - in both heart and deeds.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Wm. Eugene; sisters, Toy and Eunice; and brothers, Bill, Wayne, and Carl.
Survivors are his wife of over 48 years, Barbara Jean Giddeon; sons, Marvin Kenneth (Cathy) Giddeon, and Raymond Keith Giddeon; grandchildren, Kenneth Eugene Giddeon, Amanda Alene (Brandon) Forehand and Marvin Lee Giddeon; sister, Lois Hemmer; all of Pensacola, great-granddaughter, Kaya Violeta Giddeon, of Deltona; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John Gunn, John Elliott, Alvin Potts, Levert Hardy, Randy Craft, and Chris Kelley.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 15, 2006, in the sanctuary of the House of Bread Church, 8025 N. (Old) Palafox Hwy., with Pastor Clifford McGraw and Rev. Bill Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park on Scenic Hwy.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Thursday at FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 100 Beverly Pkwy.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Frank Messina, his nurse Mary, and the wonderful nurses and staff (esp. Tessa, Laurie, Ashley, Joel) in Progressive Care at Sacred Heart Hospital for the outstanding care and help given to Ken in his final days.
