Charlie Reid Powell, Sr., 85, of Warm Springs, died February 25, at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital in Warm Springs. Funeral services were held February 25 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Manchester. Entombment followed in Warm Springs City Cemetery Mausoleum.
Mr. Powell was born January 21, 1915, in Woodbury, the son of the late Nellie Dixon Powell and William Clifford Powell. He was the retired owner of Hancock’s Variety Store in Warm Springs, a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Woodbury First United Methodist Church and a former Warm Springs City Councilman. Mr. Powell was the widower of Margie Hancock Powell.
Survivors include two sons, Charlie Powell of Warm Springs, and Andy Powell of McDonough; a brother, Harold Powell of Richmond, Virginia; three sisters, Mae Causey of Social Circle, Celeste Powell of Dublin and Nellie Coley of Hawkinsville; and three grandchildren.

No Cause Has Been Ascribed for the Rash Act
of Andrew of Andrew S. Powell at Senoia.

Woodbury, Ga., August 30.--(Special.)--Andrew S. Powell, who committed suicide by shooting himself through the heart, was buried here this afternoon in the Woodbury Cemetery.
Powell for the past three years has been superintendent of the Senoia oil mills at Senoia, Ga., and at one time was a member of the Cotton States Baseball League. No cause is known why should have taken his own life. He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Powell, and brother[s] J. R., W. C. and H. T. ; sisters Misses Tessa, Roberta, Maggie, Maud and Mrs. W. C. Pound
